Behind Start With Heart
Thanks for stopping in. My name is Jen and I am a Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Group Fitness Trainer with a CrossFit Level 1 credential, an author, and much like my clients, a mother and wife too!
My mission is to help women get started on their journey into fitness, so they make it a life-long habit. As a coach, I walk alongside my clients as we discover together what their greatest needs and motivators are while uncovering and exploring the fears and limiting beliefs holding them back.
It can seem overwhelming and even impossible to set aside time to exercise when you have a family and/or a career. It’s also hard to get motivated to start exercising when you’re over 40 and tell yourself “it’s too late to change now.” Many people give up before they even get started – but not you! I am here to get you started on the path to a healthy new beginning: to get acquainted and comfortable with fitness and health, and the habits and mindset needed to see it through.
We tend to harp on the bad stuff and ignore the good that’s right in front of us. We do that in our own lives as well: we focus on what’s bad in our lives instead of appreciating what’s good. As a coach, I want to help you see how amazing you really are. You are capable of so much more and you are worth the effort!
Jen’s Philosophy
Listening
Really listen to the person. Don’t just wait for your turn to speak. In my time practicing as a coach, I’ve learned that many people need to talk it out. They need someone to hear them.
Balancing
Coaches focus on the positive but do not ignore the underlying negative stuff. We want to focus on the things that make our clients flourish. What makes them feel energized and alive. After all, those who are happy are more likely to engage in healthy behaviors. However, this does not mean we’re living in a fantasy world where everything is cupcakes and rainbows. We listen to and acknowledge their problems then bring them into an appreciative framework to keep them away from a negative spiral.
Empowering
Coaches must always empower their clients with the fact that they are in charge of their lives and the decisions they make. Coaches guide their clients, they don’t tell them what to do or how to live.
Accountability
Coaches hold their clients accountable. We’re here to keep you honest with check-ins and goal reviews and to remind you that you are not in this alone.
It is a big responsibility to be a coach and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve those who need me. Let me know how I can serve you. Email me at itstartswithheartwellness@gmail.com
